Indications:
For use as an aid in acidifying the urine of cats and dogs.
Advantages:
Proven effectiveness – one 500 mg Methio-Form tablet per day will double the hydrogen ion concentration (acidity) of male feline urine
Scored tablets permit easy, accurate administration
Helps control urine odor in male cats
Dosage:
The usual adult daily dosage of DL-Methionine is 0.75 to 2.0 grams for cats and 0.5 to 4.0 grams for dogs depending on body weight. To obtain uniform results and lessen the possibility of stomach upset, it is preferable that the daily dosage be given in 2-3 divided doses.
Cats:
All Breeds
(average adult)....................1 1/2 to 3 tablets daily
Dogs:
Small Breeds
(15 lbs or under)................1/2 to 4 tablets daily
Medium Breeds
(15-33 lbs)..........................2 to 7 tablets daily
Large Breeds
(33-66 lbs)........................4 to 13 tablets daily
After 3 days of therapy, the pH of fresh voided urine should be tested. The dose should maintain a urinary pH of 6.0. When individual dosage levels have been determined, Methio-Form tablets should be used continuously.
Administration:
Methio-Form tablets may be fed free choice, from the hand or may be crumbled and mixed into the food. For additional flavor release, moisten the tablets before offering to the pet.

Contraindications:
Do not administer to animals with severe liver, kidney or pancreatic disease, or which are acidotic.
Caution:
In rare cases animals may experience gastrointestinal disturbance. In those cases, administer during feeding
or in two to three divided doses.
Warning:
Over-consumption may result if access to open bottles occurs. The effect may be severe and could result in life-threatening metabolic acidosis if veterinary treatement is not initiated.
Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
