Description
UriKare is a brand of ammonium chloride in a palatable protein base.
Indications
For use as a urinary acidifier in cats and dogs.
Dosage
The recommended dose for ammonium chloride is 20 mg/kg of body weight twice daily. The daily dose may vary with different diets depending on the alkalinity of the diet. The dosage should be adjusted to maintain urine pH consistently below 6.6. For animals smaller than 20 lbs, UriKare 200 is recommended. Tablets may be given whole or crushed.
Urikare 200 Body Weight Dosage
10 lb (4.54 kg) 1/2 tablet twice daily
20 lb (9.08 kg) 1 tablet twice daily
30 lb (13.6 kg) 1 1/2 tablets twice daily
40 lb (18.2 kg) 2 tablets twice daily
Caution
Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
Not for human use.
Keep out of reach of children.
Not intended for use in kittens.
Warning
May cause gastric mucosal irritation. Do not administer to animals with severe liver or kidney damage or to animals exhibiting acidosis. Do not administer to animals on a special petfood diet designed to acidify the animals urine.
